Former Hard Wired writer Jo Clarkson AKA DJ Cyberchrist is one of the UK's top EBM DJs & he's used his expertise & wide range of contacts to put together this latest continuous mix of top EBM toons. The idea is to get you in the mood as you're getting ready for to go clubbing & if you're a regular at any EBM clubs you've doubtless already given it up to Combichrist's "Get Your Body Beat", Suicide Commando's superb "Massaker" or, if you're more into the noise-based stuff, Noisuf-X's "Jezebel" while Tamtrum's "Little Skull Box" is reminiscent of Hocio at their best & thus more than lives up to the hype this band have been gaining. I was a tad surprised that :Wumpscut: were represented by "Wir Warten" & not "Jesus Antichristus", which seemed a more immediate & logical choice, but who am I to argue? All of which is well & good, of course but the greatest excitement comes from the exclusives that Jo's immense network of contacts & friends has allowed the good DJ to blag with Agonoize doing an ace remix of Hocico's "Spirits Of Crime", adding an additionally dramatic edge as only they can while the Pride & Fall/Aeternus side-project Chaoskult make their debut with "Vengeance Is Mine", which has all the hallmarks of a top dancefloor hit while Hearing Damage's "Hate And Violence" goes for a slightly smoother, relatively poppier feel &, as a result, doesn't quite hit the spot as much for me although there's no reason they shouldn't gain plenty of interest on the strength of this. My one slight moan is that, towards the end, it's impossible to work out where Am Inc's addmittedly intriguing "Feuchte Hosen" ends & the DJ Hive edit of Rotersand's "Storm" begins so I guess that, were this actually played in a club, I'd make for the bar at this point although Agonoize's excellent "Koprolalie", which closes the collection, would soon get me back on there; I mean, how you can not dance to Agonoize? |
