What a way to celebrate your century as Dependent hit the jackpot once again with another essential EBM/industrial collection that is full of pure musical dynamite. Whatever you're looking for this will not disappoint you; you want big names? How about Covenant? (with "The Men" which, for me just happens to be the best track of their new album) or Pride And Fall? Or Stromkern? (both with either edits or extended versions of recent works) Or Juno Reactor? (the first time I've heard their music & if "Mutant Message" is anything to go by I've got some catching up to do) or Insekt, once again proving their expertise with another excellent track in "Lost Myself". Seabound also pop up with a newie while Frank Spinath's other band Edge Of Dawn, whose remix of "Elegance" ends the album on a nice floor-filling note, make another claim for greatness. Likewise Dismantled's "Anthem" carries on in the poppier style of the Breed To Death EP & promises much for the imminent new album while the ever-excellent Flesh Field contribute another breathtakingly powerful symphonic stormer entitled "Forgotten Trauma". And if it's exciting new names you want there's still plenty to get your teeth into with Encephelon promising to give Seabound some future competition while Schwefelgels (a real tongue twister, that one!) go for a slightly offbeat but very infectious dancey style on "My Pornoshow" &, on "Inject" Controlled Collapse provide a short but potent dark electro taster (looking forward to seeing them at Dark City!). In fact the only two tracks that fail to score with me are Mind. In. A Box. & their remix of "Lament For Lost Dreams", the original of which was released & the repetitive rhythm/noise combo of Klangstabil although this is a strictly personal opinion & nothing else, fans of such musics should find this right up their street. As you might have guessed, then, this is yet another essential instalment to the Septic series that nobody should miss, how do they do it? No-one knows but just be glad they do!
