Hot (well, fairly hot) on the heels of the Club EP Manipulated comes the first full-length album from Sascha Windrath &, if you like your EBM with a slice of techno then this is sure to be very much your cuppa tea! The thumping beats that herald the opening "I Have Seen The Future (City Beat Mix)' might lead you to believe that this is an album made solely for the clubs (or shops such as Cyberdog) & while this is undoubtedly a big consideration for all concerned, particularly on tracks such as 'Twisted Science' where the appropriately spooky overtones play second fiddle to the banging beats, the greater melodic variety that grace 'Antimatter Man' or the mid-paced 'Embrace The Dark', which is made a good deal more infectious by its almost poppy feel, do make some concessions to widening the album's appeal. Similarly the 2001 version of 'I HAve Seen....' (which is the best of the three versions of this track by some margin) mixes the breakneck breakbeats of the modern version with a more memorable melodic theme while the duo of 'O O B E' (which stands for Out Of Body Experience, in case you were wondering!) & 'Unit 4' end the album on a laidback & atmospheric (but not soporific) style as Windrath shows his melodic skills to greater effect once again. For all that, the sometimes minlmalistic feel of the album means that it doesn't quite have enough going on to keep interest high when listened to from beginning to end, nor does it reward concentrated listens (a problem that afflicts many techno albums); there needs to be a still greater mix of melodics & beats to achieve this (& his track 'E People' that appeared on the World Wide Kind II compilation proves that this is well within his abilities) but, when taken in smaller doses, it's not without its moments &, if you're looking for something that will get you in the mood for a night clubbing then this might well fit the bill while the slower offerings could even act as a decent chillout aid afterwards!
