Signed by Charlotte herself, and labeled as number 43 out of a limited 100, I feel privileged to have the honour of reviewing this CD.

The opening track "Dosca" is the rant of a middle-aged British man telling his fiend's answer phone all the hardships of struggling to be an artist. If he weren't a full-time accountant, it might be slightly easier. It's a phone message distorted over a dance track, which I have the feeling needs a few absinthes to get into properly. "Hayabusa" is a lot more interesting, lots of jungle noises, lions growling, etc. Probably a good sound to have on in the background when calling any customer service helpline or for the backing track for any documentary about "Goth lifestyle" as background musak.

The loops on "Just Give Em The X" is reminiscent of Garbage, and before that, Curve. Who remembers Curve, and the lovely Toni Halliday? No? I must be getting old. But this is like a French and Saunders spoof of that sound, but I don't think it's meant to be. Moving swiftly on...

"Cicadas" is lovely however, this is the soundtrack for anyone who's ever woken up in the middle of the night...and needed an Alka Seltzer. Which is what the fizzing sound is like to me. But it's actually meant to be beetles, so I'll shut up. But it could almost be an effervescent tablet dissolving. Oh, I'll stop being flippant, this is a lovely sound. Definitely to be listened to when all alone!

"California Soul" is great- and it's here that I'm beginning to understand the CD. Each 'song' gives a taste of a sound, or a 'soundscape' to sound really pretentious. If only each one would follow through to the full conclusion then I wouldn't feel high and dry after each one!

This CD is a taste of things to come - hopefully.
