Infacted seems to have knack for discovering fine new acts &, if this debut is anything to go by, Liquid Divine are going to go a long way. This is an album that improves as it progresses, the band taking their time so show the extent of their talents with the early duo of "Remember Tomorrow" & "Kaleidoscope" suggesting that this is nothing more than just another load of Icon Of Coil or Covenant wannabes (although the latter track does benefit from a memorable chorus) but once "Something Trivial" gets into its stride, with its excellent chordal work & vocodered vox on the chorus (not original in itself I know but they make all the difference here) then it soon becomes clear that is one band who are not afraid to stray from the established future pop path, adding light breakbeats &, most importantly, a more atmospheric side to their music. This is very much the case from here on, most noticeably during the following "Introspective", the lead synths of which verge on the psychedelic & while "Broadcast" isn't as immediately memorable the understated mood makes this another feast for the mind. Some of you may have heard "Low Life Complex" on the first "Infacted" sampler &, once again, the vocodered voices are an important factor in making this the memorable piece that it is while both the chilled-out "9 To 5" (not the Dolly Parton one, thank god!) with its winning combo of laidback rhythms & masterful combination of smoking spoken voice, synths & piano, this is one to really lose yourself in while the similarly rich-sounding "Lotus" again proves that there's simply no substitute for good old-fashioned tunesmithery, something Liquid Divine have in spades & which makes this a worthy debut & marks them out as one to watch.
