The CD kicks off with "Blueprint", a cinematic, orchestral piece pacing with drama and swishy female vocals. These come courtesy of Dolores Margueritte C, and very nice they are too. This is another slow-paced, chilled-out sound of the Goth variety, and suited to unwinding on the Ipod on a train journey home, or in the car.
"Material and Form" sounds like another celluloid candidate, ideal for Tim Burton's next extravagance (ideally with Johnny Depp or Orlando Bloom in the lead role). "Silent In Time" evokes more of an action-movie atmosphere: perhaps Tom Cruise or Bruce Willis charging along the street of 21st Century apocalyptic earth - you know the kind of thing. This bunch have a twenty-year history of making music that makes the movies, and it really does show, without having any background information. "Vantage" brings up images of dew-filled mornings, rolling hills, and perhaps a Hobbit or two stumbling along. Shame that the Peter Jackson trilogy has concluded really. I really could imagine Frodo and co springing across the greenery with a few orcs moaning away on the ground. "Kryptka" brings more drama and suspense with organs, a whole orchestra and the obligatory sense of impending doom. This CD is perfect if you are suffering from the blues, a spell of melancholy, or just feeling sorry for yourself. Or just suffering with the suffering of life... Perfect background music for telling your landlord that you're moving out, to keep the deposit, and that not giving him any more money, ever again. |
