Well, this album starts with a big, fat ... nothing. Literally. I don't know if it's the fault of this particular CD, but the first track, "Closed", really is just a blank space. Nothing. Nada.
The ever-so-pleasantly titled "I Like The Sounds Of Your Death" has some mindless yattering in the background, before going into some mean 'n' moody bass, and some utterly dreary lyrics, that inspire me to stick my head in a load of grey washing up water. It would be more exciting, for sure. "The Hanged Man" is just as lifeless, please excuse the pun. "The Scar" has the session's octopus (drum machine) making most of the noise, a thudding monotony that may cause mental implosion. "The Door Under The Floor" is a promising title, and would probably appeal to some My Little Pony-style emo types who like shaking their hair extensions about. "The Pain of Penitents" has some sensitive-sounding guitar thrown in, but it's much the same as before. "The Regret" really should be that I even spent 10 minutes of my life that I'll never have back listening to this CD. It's just like listening to someone sniveling with an outrageous cold. Get some Night Nurse, and shut up whinging. |
