Bloody hell, this is superb! Chucking this disc in the CD player was possibly the best thing I did today. After being consistently disappointed with over-hyped albums from bands that should know better, this came as a breath of fresh air.
Hailing from France (well, the label are based in France), Bioconflict (great name by the way!) have released this 5 track monster, and for once the fusion of different musical styles works!
Take death metal vocals, Electronica beats and some slabs of Industrial guitars, and you have the Bioconflict sound.
This is a fast paced EP – track one, ‘Green Powder Cloud’ (not such a great name by the way), hits you between the eyes like a bullet from a gun. Chugging rifts, pounding beats and driving guitars carry this epic forward, while the growling vocals guide the track with masterful precision. This is like an EBM track given an adrenalin enema in the shape of some raucous guitars, and it’s f*cking brilliant! I want to hear this played at a club soon.
‘Median’ plays host to some nice synth work, drum machine rhythm, samples, grinding guitars and those growling vocals again. I’m reminded of many death metal bands from my youth, notably Massacre. Class!
‘Blacksunrise’ is an assault on your bass – the intro to this will have your speaker cones trying to make a bid for freedom. The rest of this track sticks to the same formula as the others, and is equally as good.
‘Infighting’ has a more electronic based intro, but then the guitars come in, and it’s a case of ‘hang onto your seats, we’re going for a ride!”. Yet another good track, and this time the vocals are let lose to do their most damage yet. Stunning. This is aggression let lose.
The final track, ‘Bacteria’, lends itself to those electronic beats and loops again, but is helped along by some superb distorted guitar work. Another winning track.
It’s albums like this that remind me why I run this website – there is some pure talent out there that is capable of releasing stunning material, and not re-hashing the same old crap.
Bioconflict have managed to fuse EBM beats to Death Metal rhythm, and it bloody works!
I cannot wait to hear more from this band. You need to buy this now!!
