It's been almost 5 years since Feral Bios but Martin Katscan is back with a bang & sounding better than ever. In comparison to its predecessor, the tone of this album is a whole lot darker, even down to the cover art, which has less in of the sick humour that graced their debut. The opening "Intro (Attack Of The Killer Clowns)" has that old 60s B-movie feel to a tee & is a nice surprise to start with before the rapid breakbeats that open "A Time For Hate" announce that is the Katscan we all know & love, setting the scene for the album as a whole. The music is first rate as the typically frantic Katscan style, further characterised here by such tracks as the ultra-infectious "You Love It You Schlaags" which has already become a much-loved live fave, "Neccessary Evil", which develops from its almost home-made rhythmic feel into a hard-hitting mother of a track & "I Dopa", which gives you some idea of what The Exploited might sound like if they embraced electronics (even retaining the punk ethic of being less than two minutes long) benefit from the trio's abundant compositional skills, tempered in places by tracks such as the instrumental "Damn You All To Hell" where some of the voice sample even indulge in a spot of self-promotion, or the short "Joe Public" where the minimal feel only adds to the nightmarish lyrics (although the fact that such people exist is even more chilling!) & while it might be coincidental, the following "Stutter Cut" retains this nightmarish mood meaning that the two work almost as one entity while later on, the slower "Cheap Freak Trash!" is more effective for taking a less 'in yer face' approach whilst the attention-grabbing synth stabs retain the band's hard-hitting style which just leaves another instrumental, "A Weapon Of Crass Dysfunction", to close proceedings (apart from the uncredited extra track which follows on from track one!) on a faster note with its repetitive but excellent (& almost accessable) motif being underpinned by surging rhythms which makes for an excellent finish to a quite superb album.
