First impressions are not encouraging. Ths band appear to have high ambitions (they call themselves 'Pure Soundart') and yet they decide to call their album "Emo is dead". Are they being ironic? It doesn't really matter, but they go further than this by calling one of their songs "Poem (for the Dead)". Still, at least it isn't called "Darkest Of All Poems (For The Dead) and (For Those) Still Alive and Listening (Part II)". I must dock them one and a half points for not being emo enough. Tut tut, boys.

In actual fact they sound more screamo than emo, with the vocals leaving much to be desired, but the music isn't too bad, even if it is a tad generic to say the least - stop-start, sprawling compositions, chords and choruses all over the place, uneven beats and basically the triumph of exhibitionism over composition. There is just enough to keep the listener interested, and the guitar work is pretty good (Track 4 (the poem track) has a particularly driving groove to it). There are hints of decent songs all over the place, but the band's wilful posturing clouds each and every track like a drunken prom king desperate to get to the podium.

Which is a shame because there are some good songs itching to get out. Still, something new for pampered emo kids to cry pointlessly to.
