Kicking off the EP with an indie rock cachophony, The Vines' new single "He's A Rocker" comes from their forthcoming new album Melodia. Hmmm, it's alright. It paces along determinately, kicking the odd mod out of the way as you do. It's all rebellion without a cause, greasy-quiff-tastic groove that a present day Fonz would no doubt give the vote of confidence to. 'All he ever wanted was a reason to do it, yeah.' Short and sweet. The punkier, and quite Ramones-esque "Hey Now" is in shouty new wave punk mode, and does almost make the listener jump out of their slippers to attempt some pogoing... but oh, can't be arsed today and the back's playing up. "Blue Jam" isn't about blueberry jam, funnily enough – but apart from that, it does exactly what it says on the tin. It's a loud, unreconstructed jam, loud brash 'n' noisy, a bit of shouting at the end, and then – zippit.com.
